Stop-Motion Animation Workshop Series

Monday, January 263:30—5:00 PMThompson Makerspace (102)Abbot Public Library235 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA, 01945

This cumulative six-week workshop led by artist Steve McClure explores the concepts and magic of stop-motion animation. Participants will collaborate to make a different stop-action movie each week. We’ll start by performing magic tricks with the kids as the actors. From there we’ll make two dimensional and then Claymation movies, developing characters and stories along the way. Participants will make paper back drops, cut-out paper characters, title cards, and mold clay characters with the goal of making a short feature film to be screened at the library in March!

The workshop series is limited to 10 children ages 8-11, and online registration is required - please register below. PLEASE NOTE: as this is a series, you only need to register for one session. Registering once will add you to all six sessions. Materials and tablets will be provided, but wearing clothing for possible art mess is recommended.

This program is generously supported by the Oliver P. Killam Mary MacAllister Fund for Fine Arts Programming for children and teens.
