As storms batter our coast, causing more damage, we begin to see what the future may hold if we do not act. Barbara Warren, SSCW’s Executive Director, will provide updates on how the Commonwealth and the Salem Sound municipalities are grappling with these problems, including the new initiative, ResilientCoasts. She will also share the progress of several local resilience building projects and some of the challenges they will need to overcome.

Barbara Warren is the Executive Director of the environmental nonprofit Salem Sound Coastwatch, and serves as the Lower North Shore Regional Coordinator for the Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Partnership. She has a master’s of science in Environmental Studies from Antioch New England and a master’s of education from Lesley University. She has completed training in communicating climate risk and engaging stakeholders in solutions. As a certified Massachusetts Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Provider, Warren focuses much of her work on climate awareness and coastal resilience projects in Salem, Manchester, Marblehead, Beverly, Peabody and Danvers.

For the past twelve years, Underwater in Salem Sound has been jointly sponsored by Salem Sound Coastwatch and Abbot Public Library.

All the lectures are free and open to the public. For more information, please visit salemsound.org.
