In partnership with the Marblehead League of Women Voters, Abbot Public Library is presenting a series of lectures on Marblehead Town Government. This series gives town residents the opportunity to learn how individual departments work within the municipality. These programs are offered both in person and on Zoom.

Registration is required to join in person or via Zoom. Please register to join in person below, or register to join online via Zoom HERE

Recordings of past lectures are available here, including those featuring the Water and Sewer Department, the Finance Department, the Health Department, the Town Planning Department and the Tree Department.

Join us for the next installment of the series with Library Director Kimberly Grad. In honor of Library Card Sign-Up Month, Grad will share an update on all things happening at the library.

She'll cover the many benefits of having a library card, discuss building updates and projects, and explain how you can volunteer or suggest a co-sponsored event with the library. Grad will also talk about the library’s collection development and programming policies, and the important roles of the Library’s Board of Trustees, Friends of Abbot Public Library and the Abbot Public Library Foundation.

A resident of Salem, MA, Kimberly Grad moved to Massachusetts in 2021 from Brooklyn, New York, where she specialized in youth services and administration at Brooklyn Public Library. She received her Masters in Library Science from Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Science (CUNY) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh. During the last seventeen years, she has served in leadership roles within the American Library Association in the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and is currently serving on the 2026 Caldecott Selection Committee. She was a member of the 2022 Newbery Award Selection Committee.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that works to protect and expand voting rights and defend democracy through education and advocacy.
