Cookbook Club: “Salt Fat Acid Heat” by Samin Nostrat
Wednesday, October 812:00—1:30 PMEvent Center (105)Abbot Public Library235 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA, 01945

Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 12 p.m. in the Event Center for our first Cookbook Club. The Abbot Public Library Cookbook Club aims to be a starting point for a conversation about food, recipes, and an exploration of the evolving American kitchen. At each meeting, a book or theme will be explored in discussions of recipe, construction, background, cooking, display and tasting.
Participants will be encouraged to delve into and enjoy the spirit of the featured book, then choose a recipe that suits his or her comfort level and budget to bring to the first meeting for tasting. Remember, you eat first with your eyes, so presentation is the invitation. As most cookbook recipes are written for 6 or 8 servings, that will be our tasting amount. Food should travel easily from home to the Library and require minimal heating and set up, keeping in mind that there are minimal kitchen facilities available at the Library.
The first selection will explore the science of cooking with the book “Salt Fat Acid Heat” by Samin Nostrat! The book introduces the four elements of cooking named in the title, then illustrates how to employ them in classic and modern recipes with colorful drawings and unique pull-out charts.
Space is limited, and registration is required. Please register below. Copies of the cookbook can be picked up at the Circulation Desk.
Save the Date! Upcoming programs will be held on Nov. 5, Dec. 10, March 11, April 8 and May 13.
Linda Bassett, author of “From Apple Pie to Pad Thai: Neighborhood Cooking North of Boston” and food column writer for Marblehead Current, will lead the discussion.
